Chateau de Montreuil-Bellay France in 360 Degrees

360 Adventure Chateau de Montreuil-Bellay France

Back in the day, before the French Revolution beheaded all the "Lords of the Lands" and the rich, a community grew under the direction or the Local Lord or Duke.  Yes the peasants under him were the ones that put in all the labor, but they did have vision to build something great and beautiful that was meant to last for centuries.  Sadly, the visionaries of these gorgeous buildings and communities ran for their lives, or were dragged to the guillotine, or were gathered up on barges on the Loire River and then drown.  Those merchants that got wealthy during the French Revolution or had connections to Napoleon later ended up inhabiting these beautiful buildings.  This chateau is still lived in buy the descendants of the wealthy merchant that made bank during the revolution.   There is 2 sections to this Chateau, the old medieval remnants, and the new section. Tours run between in the afternoon, but no photography is allowed in the Chateau. Here is a link that has some pictures of the inside.

In the above Panoramas, you can see the moat, and bridge.  You can also see sections that were from the Medieval Castle, and the section from the newer section of the castle.

ENTRANCE TO CHATEAU DE MONTREUIL-BELLAY

Above is the first bridge and arch to go through. If you look to the right you will see the old medieval section and the newer section.

The the second Gate  into the Castle.

This is the beautiful restaurant across from the Chateau.  The Chateau closes at 5, and we were eager to eat.  We saw that it opened, and we sat down to enjoy some pizza.  We sat for a good 10 minutes with menus before we were told that between 5-7 they only serve drinks.  Dinner doesn't start until 7. UGH French dinner time at 7 is a little tough for me to get adjust to.  Especially when we are not really enjoying a good lunch.

Chateau de Monteuil-Bellay From Behind

So I took a little walk along this wall down the street, and found this small break in the trees and wall. (Below). I walked through the trees and was bless with a great view of the Chateau from behind. I headed down the steps and found I was in the area that used to house the carriages and horses.

Here is a link to their official website.

Below is the opening through the trees and a secret staircase down to the back side of the castle and the stables.

Here are the old stables and most likely the current garages for the current owner.

As I kept walking I was on a road where there was water on my right, and a wall that went around the castle on my left.  Above the wall there was the beautiful view of the Castle.

Here is a Google Map List of some of my favorite quaint towns we visited on our Tour of France if that is helpful.
